Recent Visa & Immigration Updates – January 2026

  • Australia — Permanent migration program remains capped at 185,000 places for 2025-26, with the new Talent & Innovation visa consolidating talent pathways and the Skills in Demand visa now fully replacing the old TSS 482 visa (effective Dec 2025). International student planning levels increased to 295,000 places for 2026.
  • New ZealandVisa Application Centre (VAC) service fees increased from 1 January 2026 for applicants in India and many other countries (official INZ visa fees unchanged). Major Skilled Migrant Category reforms coming in August 2026, introducing new pathways focused on work experience and trades.
  • United Kingdom — From 8 January 2026, English language requirement raised to B2 level for new Skilled Worker, Scale-up, and High Potential Individual visa applicants. Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) becomes strictly mandatory for visa-free visitors from 25 February 2026.
